HERE I AM, LORD, YOU KNOW HOW!

Here I am, Lord

on the threshold of your time,

a trembling, frightened, bewildered,

expectant, love-sick woman,

seeing how you inflame in my poor heart

the embers of desire of other times.

Here I am, Lord

on the threshold of your time,

feeling how you awaken with a touch of nostalgia

my hope which becomes enlivened and opens its eyes,

whilst being frightened and trusting,

dazzled by thankfulness.

Here I am, Lord

on the threshold of your house,

facing the paradoxes of waiting for an impossible future,

loving what is worn out and weak,

trusting in people who make themselves humble

becoming rich by giving myself away. .

Here I am, Lord

on the threshold of your house,

with my sight fixed in your eyes that regard me

with an inflamed expectation and a depth of desire of red-hot coals,

fighting against my fears,

wanting to enter your mansions.

Here I am, Lord

on the threshold of your time and house,

half-captive, half-ashamed

sometimes, I think, in love,

wanting to throw off so much weight, inertia and fear,

so as to enter with bare feet in this space and time of grace.

Here I am, Lord

you know how, better than anyone!,

trying to pass through the fog that separates us,

asking you to w ipe away my tears,

wanting to respond to your call with rejoicing.

Here I am, Lord,

with body and soul orientated

towards the promised land that I cannot see,

waiting for what I do not always want,

what is unknown to me,

but which, at the same time, is my greatest certainty and desire.

Here I am, Lord

on the threshold of your time and house.

Don't get tired of calling, Lord!

Don't get tired of arriving!

Don't get tired of coming, Lord!

I will continue here trusting in your Word.
